Looking for something fun to do on NEW YEARS DAY morning? MAAC running club in conjuntion with Swan's Running Club are holding a very INFORMAL FUN RUN starting from Admiralty House at 10am on NEW YEARS DAY, Sunday JANUARY 1st. Create your own distance! Come back and cliff jump or just hang out. (Byob and snacks) Just show up and run off that hangover with your fellow runners!

The event will be the kick-off event of 2017, attracting competitors both locally and internationally. It is a great final warm-up for International Race Weekend, which starts on Friday, January 13, 2017. The Gosling’s to Fairmont Southampton Race also includes a competitive walking category, a 3-member team relay, and a Junior 3K race.

MAAC is going to hold its annual May 24th training run on April 30th. Minibus from TCD to St Georges leaving at 8am - refreshments will be placed on route back to TCD where there will be more refreshments and snacks.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Time Trial Championships

Race Schedule
First rider will start at 7:30 AM, other riders to follow at 1 minute intervals. A start list will be published on Friday June 16.

 

Description
Start in Clearwater car park
Exit car park onto Coopers Island Road
Left at roundabout onto Southside Road
Left onto bike path and rejoin Southside Road
U-turn at White’s roundabout and rejoin Southside Road
Continue onto Tommy Fox Road
Right onto Pepper Hill Road
Straight over roundabout onto Coopers Island Road to finish
Right into car park to continue additional laps

Advance Registration is required – online entries only via RacedayWorld.com. Closing date for entries is 5:00PM THURSDAY June 15, 2017 – there will be no late entries.

 

Age category determined by age at December 31, 2017

 

Timing chips will be issued on the day at the start, immediately prior to a rider’s start time.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Triathlon

Description

The Bermuda Triathlon Association (BTA) is pleased to announce that the 2017 Bank of Bermuda Foundation Triathlon will take place on Saturday 1 July 2017 at Clearwater Beach, Southside.

The event will be non-drafting for all age categories and all distances. There will be different distances for adults, 7-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds and 13-15 year olds. The swim will take place off Clearwater Beach and transition will be located in the main car park. 

Entry will be on www.racedayworld.com and all participants will be required to sign a waiver.

With the exception of the Try-a-Tri which starts at 8.03 am, all races start will promptly start at 8.00 am.

All Prices include the one day BTA fee. Membership discount will be applied at checkout.

Junior Triathlon – Individual & Team

  • 7–10 year olds: 100m swim/5K bike/1K run (non-drafting on the bike)
  • 11-12 year olds: 200m swim/10K bike/2K run
  • 13-15 year olds: 375m swim/10K bike/2.5K run
  • Road bike and MTB/BMX bike categories
  • Notwithstanding that the race is non-drafting, juniors are not permitted time trial bikes, aero bars, aero helmets or disc wheels
  • Check-in from 6:45 am
  • Bikes must be racked by 7.45 am
  • Mandatory race briefing in transition for all juniors at 7.50 am
  • Race start is at 8.00 am
  • An individual doing the full event can do the swim leg for a team

Adult Try-a-Tri Triathlon – Individual (for beginners)

  • 375m swim/10K bike/2.5K run
  • Minimum age 16 (as at 31 December 2017)
  • The bike leg is non-drafting – therefore road bikes (with or without aero bars), time trial bikes, aero helmets and disc wheels are permitted
  • Check-in from 6.45 am
  • Bikes must be racked by 7.45 am
  • Mandatory race briefing in transition for all participants at 7.50 am
  • Race start is at 8.03 am sharp

Adult Sprint Triathlon - Individual & Team – NON draft legal on the bike:

  • 750m swim/20K bike/5K run
  • Minimum age 16 (as at 31 December 2017), although younger triathletes may request permission from the BTA Executive to enter the Sprint distance and eligibility will be determined on a case by case basis
  • The bike leg is non-drafting – therefore road bikes (with or without aero bars), time trial bikes, aero helmets and disc wheels are permitted
  • Check-in from 6.45 am
  • Bikes must be racked by 7.45 am
  • Mandatory race briefing in transition for all participants at 7.50 am
  • Race start is at 8.00 am sharp
  • An individual doing the full event can do the swim leg for a team

Nature Valley 5K Road Race

ROUTE:

Start at Butterfield & Vallis, take left onto Middle Road. Go down the hill and left onto Parsons Lane. Follow Parsons Lane all the way to Palmetto Road. Take left on Palmetto Road and left on Frog Lane. Keep left at the roundabout and go up Montepelier Road and left onto Middle Road. Turn left into Orange Valley and right down into Butterfield & Vallis.

 

ENTRY FEES:

  • MAAC members - $25.00
  • Gold Club members - $8.00 (BNAA fee)

PURE JOY - BASA's Summer White's Island Swim Camp

BASA's White's Island Swim Camp Summer 2017

Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association teaches swimming lessons for beginner to improver swimmers in a camp environment in six week-long sessions. The Camp will start on July 3 and end on August 18. (There is no camp on Cup Match week July 31-Aug 4)

All Day program –The children travel by ferry from Albouy's point to the island. The 'Friendship' departs at 8:35a.m. sharp and returns at 5p.m. These are the only boats to and from the island each day, and swimmers must arrive at Albouy's point 15 minutes prior to departure time. Swimmers must also be picked up promptly once the ferry returns, or have permission to leave the dock.

  • Cost of the program is $150 for the week
  • Youngest swimmer must turn 6 by December 31st 2017
  • Swimmers may join for as many weeks as they want
  • No Refunds given without Doctors certificate

Bermuda Bicycle Assocation 2017 Road Race Season

In summary, this is what it will cost to race:

We are again offering the ability to register for 15 events (5 TT, 5 RR, and 5 Crits) plus the timing chip for the season at a price of $250.  Single time trials are $15 and road races and crits are $30.  These numbers are inclusive of chip usage fees.  Juniors (racing age 18 and under) are free of charge for these 15 events.

Chips in 2017 will be available to retain for the entire year only for those who have prepaid the season.  Riders who have pre-paid can use this chip for other non-series events (e.g. - BGP, SPMR) at no additional charge.  

Juniors 13-18 will be assigned a permanent chip and will be permitted to retain them for the season, but must Regsiter online as well.

Juniors 12 and under will be assigned a chip on the day and will have to return them after each event.  

All chips will have to be returned at the end of the season and lost chips will incurr an additional $50 cost invoiced directly to the Individual.

Through this process we are inviting all BBA members who intend to race road events in 2017 to register through this portal.  You will not be obligated to prepay the season but this process should give the timing services team more accurate information.
